I am delighted to announce some great news for our local community – a new Primary Education Support Centre will be built in Baldivis a cost of $2.5 million.
The centre will be co-located with the new Pine View Primary school. The new centre will be a moderate to low needs facility and cater for up to 40 students. While the school will open in 2021, the education support facility will open in 2022.
I want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank local parents, teachers and staff for their involvement in securing this centre for Baldivis. I have been working for the establishment of an education support facility for Baldivis and the McGowan Government are delivering on this issue.
It's important to note that while this centre will serve many local children, there will be some children in our community who will still need to go to other centres that better suit their particular needs.
While this centre will not be required by every family, I know that every family will welcome the fact that this service is available here in our community.
The funding will be delivered under a $492 million Building Schools package, which forms part of the $5.5 billion WA Recovery Plan. The Building Schools package includes $319 million in new funding for upgrades and refurbishments at 63 public schools around the State, supporting the construction industry and creating hundreds of local jobs.
